CyclingWeather Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

Overview

CyclingWeather is an iPhone app that turns the weather forecast into ride guidance for road riders and commuters. It is made by the team behind RunWeather. This policy covers the CyclingWeather app only and explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights.

Who We Are

CyclingWeather is operated by IUSTIN NITA CONSULTING SRL, Strada Batiștei 35, 020935 Bucharest, Romania, which is the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, email hello@runweather.app.

No Account Needed

CyclingWeather does not ask you to create an account and never asks for your name, email address or password. The app does not connect to Strava, Apple Health or any other fitness service, and it does not send push notifications.

What We Collect

  • Location. With your permission, your phone's location while the app is open, or a city you search for, so we can fetch the forecast for where you ride. The places you save for your commute stay on your phone; when the app needs their forecast, it sends their coordinates. You can turn off location access at any time in your iPhone settings.
  • Anonymous device identifier. A random identifier created by the app on your phone. It lets us keep your subscription and usage data together without knowing who you are.
  • Subscription status. If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment. We receive whether a subscription or free trial is active, never your card details or Apple ID.
  • Usage and diagnostics. Which screens you open and which features you use, your device model and iOS version, crash reports and performance data, so we can fix problems and improve the app.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us, your email address and what you write.

How We Use Data

We use this data to show forecasts and ride guidance for your location, unlock the features you paid for, find and fix crashes, understand how the app is used, and reply to your messages. We do not use it for advertising and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Service Providers We Share Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum needed with these providers, who act only on our instructions:

  • Hostinger: hosts the servers that receive your forecast requests.
  • Open-Meteo: receives location coordinates (no identity) to return the weather and air quality forecast.
  • RevenueCat: checks your subscription status with Apple, linked only to the anonymous device identifier.
  • PostHog (data stored in the EU): usage analytics.
  • Sentry: crash and error reports.
  • Apple: app distribution and payments. If you ask Apple for a refund, we may tell Apple how you used the app and your purchase, through RevenueCat, to help it decide.

Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Usage and crash data is kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymized. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your phone.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA), you have the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because we do not know who you are, email hello@runweather.app and we will help you find and delete the data linked to your device. You can also turn off location access in your iPhone settings at any time. EU/UK users can lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

Data Sources

Weather data by Open-Meteo.com, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Air quality data from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS ENSEMBLE), via Open-Meteo: contains modified Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service information 2026. Neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use that may be made of the Copernicus information or data it contains.

Children

CyclingWeather is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give more prominent notice.
